Schedule Announced for Pakistan’s ODI Series Against Afghanistan Ahead of Asia Cup
The Pakistan cricket team will be playing a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka this August.
As per the schedule announced by ACB, the ODI series will be held from August 22nd to 26th in Sri Lanka.
The first two ODI matches will happen in Hambantota on August 22 and 24. The teams will then move to Colombo for the third and final ODI on August 26.
For Pakistan, this short series provides excellent match practice before the all-important Asia Cup starting in late August.
The Pakistan team will assemble in Sri Lanka on August 17 and have three days of training from the 19th to the 21st of August leading up to the ODI matches.
The series gives captain Babar Azam and coach Braddburn a chance to prepare their team combinations specifically for Asian conditions.
Pakistan enjoys an unbeaten record against Afghanistan in ODIs, having won all previous encounters comfortably. However, the Afghan team possesses quality spinners and batsmen who can challenge Pakistan.
After concluding the ODI series on 26th August, the Pakistan team will return home on 27th August. There they will have additional training before playing their first Asia Cup match against Nepal on 30th August in Multan.
The ODI games versus Afghanistan provide Pakistan with relevant match practice and preparation right before the high-profile Asia Cup tournament. It serves as an ideal build-up for Pakistan to enter the continental event in peak form.
